The club's final evening for 2009 will be on 17th December.

The club re-opens on 7th January 2010.

The 2010 annual fee is £55, payable in January.

The 2009 in-house trophy presentations will take place on 21st January 2010. The top three places in the Players Cup, Bill Laar Trophy and the Junior Players Cup, will each receive awards.

Local resident Bill Laar has offered to purchase the trophies for our new Intermediates tournament. Bill has also kindly offered to pay for the ‘keep sake’ trophies for this tournament over the next five years. This is a very generous offer, of which Cumnor Chess Club is most grateful. Bill’s link with the club goes right back to it’s humble beginnings in October 2001. His son Alex was one of the initial members during the club’s first six months. However, since then Bill has always held a keen interest in the progress of the club, and whenever I have bumped into him Bill has always enquired about the club’s progress. I therefore think it would be appropriate to re-name this tournament The Bill Laar Trophy.
